At Local Level: Weekly Player Report - June 26

As Werribee defeated local rivals Williamstown to achieve their sixth win in a row and go top of the VFL ladder, the club had nine players competing across four leagues at local level, with several delivering standout performances. Dive into their impressive stats in the Round 13 weekly player report:

Western Football Netball League: 

Michael Selsby - Yarraville Seddon Eagles
Was once again named in the best as the Eagles narrowly went down to Caroline Springs. Selsby picked up 29 disposals through the midfield, which included 13 contested possessions, seven clearances and nine inside 50s. He stuffed the statsheet, also laying seven tackles, taking five marks and kicking a goal as he continues to produce big numbers for Yarraville.

Sam Azzi - Yarraville Seddon Eagles
Continues his good patch of form, putting together a strong game defensively and offensively in the Eagles’ thrilling loss. Azzi had 25 disposals at an effective 88%, and took 10 marks, which included several contested and intercept grabs across the backline. Also went to Brian Lake after three-quarter time and was able to keep him quiet 
but Yarraville just came short in their final quarter comeback. 

Ubil Chol - Caroline Springs 
Played a great game defensively to help Caroline Springs defeat Azzi and Selsby’s Yarraville. Chol went at 100% through his 11 disposals, had four marks, with half being intercepts, and showed great pressure with four tackles.

Geelong Football Netball League: 

Mitch Chafer - Grovedale
Was named best on ground for Grovedale as they returned to the winners list defeating Newtown. Chafer kicked four goals, making it 10 goals in three weeks since his return from injury. The lively forward also gathering 19 disposals, with 13 contested, seven marks, four contested grabs, and laying four tackles. 

Emmanuel Ajang - Geelong West Giants
Was named in the best as the Giants went down to St. Joseph’s. Ajang had 26 disposals, 13 contested possessions, nine clearances and nine inside 50s, while also laying five tackles and hitting the scoreboard for a goal. 

Olivier Northam - St. Joseph’s
The ruckman continues to string together strong performances for St. Joseph’s as the ladder leaders remain undefeated with a 37 point win over Ajang’s Geelong West. Northam won 46 hitouts, gathered 14 disposals, with 10 contested, won five clearances and laid six tackles. 

Charlie Byrne - Newtown & Chilwell 
Played another good game rebounding well off half-back as Newtown narrowly went down to Chafer’s Grovedale. Byrne had 18 disposals, six rebound 50s and took several marks. 

Essendon District Football League:
Reuben William - Keilor
Played his best game of the season as Keilor continue to dominate the EDFL, defeating Deer Park by 131 points. William had 15 disposals while playing both as a rebounding half-back and lockdown defender. He also took five marks with his clean hands being a highlight of his game on Saturday.

Victorian Amateuar Football Association:

Zayne Galea - Williamstown CYMS
Battled all day playing forward as Willy CY’s went down to Old Geelong by ten goals. Galea presented well all day, ending with four marks and a goal in a tough day for the CY’s.
