07 March 2025

Seize an exceptional opportunity with Kokoda Courage, giving the Werribee Tigers the chance to further enhance mental toughness, team cohesion, and physical preparation. This life-changing expedition unfolds over 8 days, with 7 days on the Kokoda Track, covering 96 km of tropical rainforest. The path winds through steep and demanding terrain, with daily distances of 12-19 km.
Mental Toughness & Historical Context:
The Kokoda Trek offers a unique mental challenge, combining the physical demands of the track with the emotional weight of its history. Walking in the footsteps of Australian heroes who fought in WWII brings a profound sense of perspective, resilience, and gratitude. The mental fortitude developed through this experience is unlike any other, preparing players, coaches, and staff to face adversity head- on, both on and off the field.
Leadership Development:
The Kokoda Trek is renowned for forging strong leaders. The rugged terrain and demanding conditions mirror challenges faced both in sport and life. Team members will navigate obstacles, make crucial decisions, and support each other through thick and thin. This immersive experience empowers individuals to emerge as resilient, decisive, and inspiring leaders on and off the field.
Fitness Enhancement:
Beyond typical pre-season training, the Kokoda Trek offers a holistic approach to fitness. The diverse terrains, steep ascents, and river crossings provide a full-body workout, targeting strength, endurance, and cardiovascular fitness. This unique training opportunity will elevate the team’s physical preparedness, ensuring they enter the footy season at peak performance.
Team Bonding:
The Kokoda Trek is more than a physical challenge; it’s a shared adventure that creates lasting bonds among team members. Overcoming obstacles together, celebrating victories, and supporting one another through tough moments builds a sense of camaraderie that extends beyond the trek itself. This shared experience translates into enhanced cohesion on the footy field, as teammates develop a deeper
understanding and trust of one another.
