Round 11 - Werribee vs Frankston (Home)

05 June 2024

Werribee will return home to Avalon Airport Oval for a Round 11 showdown against fellow standalone club Frankston.

Werribee are sitting third on the ladder and are running hot with four consecutive wins. This sets the stage for a highly anticipated showdown but the excitement goes beyond the game itself. Werribee is gearing up for our annual Big Freeze Day to help Neale Daniher raise money to fight the beast - MND.

Neale is a past player for the Werribee Football Club notably kicking 44 goals in our 1991 Grand Final season. Neale’s Werribee teammate Ian Wilson (past player #366)  wrote about the importance of Fight MND to the club in this piece earlier in the year.

To help fight the beast, the pre-game President’s function will be transformed into a fundraiser for MND, consisting of an auction, beanies for sale and multiple guest speakers. Purchase your tickets to the function here.

Werribee come into the clash fresh off defeating the reigning premiers the Gold Coast Suns at their People Fight Stadium on Sunday.

Frankston are sitting ninth on the ladder the Dolphins will be looking to bounce back after a narrow one-point loss to Sandringham at home last week, conceding the match winning goal in time-on of the last quarter.

It promises to be a great contest and even more exciting, with no local footy this King’s Birthday weekend in Melbourne, entry will be FREE. Gates open at 12:30pm.

Team News:

After a knee injury when facing his former side in Round 5 against Williamstown and then two weeks for the GDFNL's Werribee Centrals, midfielder Daly Andrews returns to face the Dolphins. Since making the switch from Williamstown in the offseason, Andrews has played five matches for Werribee in 2024, averaging 21 disposals and five clearances a game.

In the Round 11 clash, Werribee will also be celebrating a significant club milestone, with Dom Brew running out for his 100th game. The inside midfielder debuted for the club in 2017, and is in career-best form, coming off the back off a best-and-fairest season and this year being chosen as the VFL state team captain.
