As Werribee put together their fourth win in a row up on the Gold Coast the next in line continued to impress with strong numbers at local level. Read about how the 12 Werribee players went across their seven local leagues in this week’s weekly player report:
Ballarat Football Netball League:
Joel Cadman - Darley
Cadman played a huge role in helping Darley to a three-goal win over Sebastopol. Named in the best, Cadman kicked two goals and 31 disposals also included 14 contested possessions, 13 marks, with four contested, and eight inside 50s.
Geelong Football Netball League:
Olivier Northam - St. Joseph’s
Northam stuffed the stat sheet again in an after-the-siren win over St. Mary’s. The ruckman won 40 hitouts, with 14 to advantage, and found 20 disposals, including a massive 17 contested possessions and eight clearances.
Connor Thar - Lara
Thar made an impact in Lara’s tough loss to Colac. He gathered 16 disposals, hit the scoreboard with a goal, and had three clearances and three inside 50s.
Charlie Byrne - Newtown & Chilwell
Byrne played another strong game off half-back in a thrilling win over Geelong West. Named in the best, Byrne had 27 disposals, at an effective 85%, with 18 kicks, six rebound 50s and four marks.
Gennaro Bove - Newtown & Chilwell
Bove played well up forward in the seven point win for Newtown. He gathered an efficient 16 disposals, went inside 50 five times, laid four tackles. He is building nicely after missing the 2023 season.
Emmanuel Ajang - Geelong West Giants
Ajang came up against Charlie Byrne and Gennaro Bove in Saturday’s thrilling GFNL clash. He picked up 16 disposals, including three clearances and three inside 50s.
Geelong District Football Netball League:
Daly Andrews - Werribee Centrals
Andrews was dominant in his second game for Werribee Centrals returning from his Round 5 knee injury. In what was a scrappy game in wet conditions, Andrews showed his class, particularly around stoppages, to lift Centrals to a 12-point win.
Essendon District Football League:
Reuben William - Keilor
William had a good game off half-back in Keilor’s 126 point win over Aberfeldie. He had 15 disposals at an effective 87%, took five marks, including several intercept grabs, and went inside 50 multiple times.
Victorian Amatuear Football Association:
Sam Conway - Melbourne University Blacks
Played his best game of the season for the Uni Blacks and was named in the best in their win over Fitzroy. Conway was dominant in the ruck, and strong around the ground, finding 13 disposals, with 12 contested, seven clearances and laying four tackles.
Zayne Galea - Williamstown CYMS
It was another tough day for the CYs, as they went down to Old Trinity by 63 points. Galea tried hard in defence all day, picking up 11 disposals at an effective 73%, along with four marks.
Northern Football Netball League:
Darcy Bennett - Banyule
Continues to string games together playig his third match for Banyule since returning from his pre season hamstring injury. Bennett was strong in the ruck, and made an impact at ground level with four clearances, four inside 50s and eight 1%ers.
Bellarine Football Netball League:
Ed McCoy - Torquay Tigers
Had a good game in the ruck for the ladder leaders in a win over Barwon Heads. McCoy had 10 disposals, with seven contested, and won 22 hitouts, with seven hitouts to advantage.
