2024 Kicked Off With Opening Practice Match

Werribee kicked off their 2024 Smithy’s VFL season preparations with a six-period hitout against Williamstown on Friday night.
Taking on the Seagulls under the Friday night lights at Deakin University, Werribee rotated a mix of youth and experience with 45 players hitting the deck across six 20-minute periods.
Following a slow start kicking against the wind in the first quarter, Werribee fought back to be make it a five point content at half time, as the experienced players made way for youngsters.
In the first three periods Jay Dahlhaus made an impact with his contest, pressure and hunt in the front half, Jack Riding provided dash playing on a wing, Gennaro Bove made an impact with one major next to his name, and new recruits Stefan Radovanovic and Riley Bice impressed. Sam Conway also made a successful return, in his first game back against opposition since his injury in the first practice match of 2023.
A host of young players impressed in the second half, with Mitch Chafer providing a spark up forward, and Jake Smith finding plenty of the footy.
