Super Six in contention for Team of the Year

Werribee’s terrific home and away season has resulted in six players being nominated for the Smithy's VFL Team of the Year.

The 40 players in contention for the team were announced on the eve of the 2023 Finals Series with Werribee and Gold Coast having the equal most representatives.

Headlining the inclusions for the Big W are 2022 Team of the Year members Tom Gribble, Shaun Mannagh and Kye Declase who yet again enjoyed excellent campaigns.

Also included is captain Nick Coughlan along with vice-captain Dom Brew and key forward Hudson Garoni who are both nominated for the first time after a career-best seasons.

Players must have played a minimum of 12 matches to be considered for selection in the Smithy's VFL Team of the Year with AFL-listed players eligible to be picked.

The final team of 24 players will be named on Monday, September 18 at the 2023 VFL and VFLW Awards.
