More good signs in Geelong practice match

14 March 2023

Werribee has shown more encouraging signs ahead of the 2023 Smithy’s VFL season defeating Geelong in its second practice match.

The Big W secured a 7.11 (53) to 5.7 (37) result after ending Friday night’s game at GMHBA Stadium with a strong final quarter.

Experienced players Kye Declase, Jack Henderson, Tom Gribble and Louis Pinnuck led the way for Werribee as the visitors overcame a small halftime deficit.

Sam Paea and Sam Clohesy were the most notable performers amongst Werribee’s young brigade with Paea the team’s only multiple goal kicker while Clohesy again impressed at halfback.

On a positive note young midfielder Noah Gribble has been cleared of any damage to his knee after leaving the field with what appeared to be a serious injury at the time.
