With Werribee returning from its Round 20 trip to Tasmania, several Werribee-listed players produced some huge performances across local football over the weekend, highlighting the outstanding form and depth across the whole playing list with just one round remaining before the VFL finals.

The weekend was highlighted by a career-best eight-goal haul from Tom Webster, dominant best-on-ground performances from Archer Hanegraaf and Tylar Watts, Luke Preece's huge intercepting display and Wil Kliszewski's return from injury after two months on the sidelines.

Bellarine Football Netball League:

Tom Webster - Newcomb
Webster produced a match-winning career-best eight-goal performance as Newcomb defeated Ocean Grove by 45 points. After a quiet opening half saw Newcomb trail by two points at the main break, the key forward exploded with seven second-half goals to help his side kick away. He finished with 22 disposals, 14 marks, 15 score involvements and eight goals, responding superbly after half-time to finish as the best player on the ground.

Luke Preece - Drysdale
Preece produced a huge intercepting performance despite Drysdale suffering a heartbreaking two-point loss to Portarlington. The defender collected 30 disposals at 80% efficiency, 11 marks, including eight intercept marks, and 14 intercept possessions. Along with his usual strength in the air, Preece's run and carry was again a major asset with ball in hand as he finished as Drysdale's best player. The narrow defeat ended Drysdale's finals hopes with two rounds remaining, which includes a bye for the Hawks in the final round.

Archer Hanegraaf - Geelong Amateur
Hanegraaf produced one of his best performances of the season as Geelong Amateur recorded a dominant 96-point win over Barwon Heads. The midfielder collected 36 disposals, including 21 contested possessions for the second consecutive week, along with eight clearances, seven inside 50s, six tackles, eight score involvements and a goal. His clearance work was exceptional as he dominated around the contest to be named as the best player on the ground.

Geelong Football Netball League:

Liam Kershaw - St Joseph's
Kershaw continued his outstanding run of form as St Joseph's defeated Geelong West by 35 points. The defender collected 30 disposals, 10 intercept possessions, eight inside 50s, six marks and seven score involvements in another excellent performance across half back. Showing his ability to defend both big and small opponents while providing plenty of drive with ball in hand, Kershaw was named in the best players for the fourth consecutive game.

Eli Pearce - Bell Park
Pearce continued his impressive run of form as Bell Park recorded an important eight-point win over second-placed Newtown & Chilwell. Playing almost exclusively through the midfield, he gathered 29 disposals, 12 contested possessions, 11 marks, nine inside 50s, seven clearances and six tackles. His power and strength around the contest became increasingly influential as the game went on, with another strong performance seeing him named in the best players. The victory moved Bell Park into fourth spot with three rounds remaining.

Ollie Bridgewater - Bell Park
Bridgewater produced another strong performance alongside Pearce in the middle in Bell Park's eight-point win over Newtown & Chilwell. Spending almost the entire game in the ruck, he finished with 22 disposals, including 14 contested possessions, 27 hitouts, seven intercept possessions, five marks and five tackles. His second efforts and follow-up work around the contest were standout features as he continued his strong form in the ruck.

Western Football Netball League:

Josh Kellett - Werribee Districts
Kellett produced his strongest performance since returning from injury as Werribee Districts defeated Newport by 49 points. Playing across half back, he collected 23 disposals, eight marks, five intercept possessions and six tackles while also providing plenty of drive going forward. His physicality and pressure were standout features, committing strongly to his tackles and pressing aggressively while finding plenty of the football across half back. Kellett was named in the best players, with the victory keeping Werribee Districts second and in contention for top spot with two rounds remaining.

Wil Kliszewski - Yarraville Seddon
Kliszewski made his return from a wrist injury after two months on the sidelines as Yarraville Seddon defeated Hoppers Crossing by 38 points. The key forward returned to the goalscorers list, booting an equal team-high two goals to go with 16 disposals and an impressive seven marks. His work rate was also encouraging in a strong return to football.

Essendon District Football League:

Massimo Raso - Deer Park
Raso continued his consistent run of form despite Deer Park's 13-point loss to Pascoe Vale. Playing as a high forward and through the midfield, he collected 17 disposals at 82% efficiency, seven marks and six inside 50s while kicking two goals. His impact with ball in hand and ability to hit the scoreboard saw him named in the best players, continuing a strong couple of weeks for the Lions.

Tom Cappellari - Essendon Doutta Stars
Cappellari was again named in the best players as the Essendon Doutta Stars fell 11 points short against Aberfeldie. The midfielder found plenty of the football, finishing with 31 disposals, eight contested possessions, seven inside 50s, four tackles and three clearances. He continued to work hard around the contest and consistently find the football throughout the afternoon.

Hampden Football Netball League:

Tylar Watts - Portland
Watts produced a dominant best-on-ground performance as Portland defeated Camperdown by 71 points to move into the top four with two rounds remaining. The ruckman stuffed the stat sheet with 28 disposals, 15 contested possessions, 46 hitouts, eight clearances and four tackles. Along with controlling the ruck battle, his second efforts and impact with ball in hand around the ground were at their best as he produced one of his strongest performances of the season.

Myles McCluggage - South Warrnambool
McCluggage backed up last week's best-on-ground display with another strong performance as South Warrnambool defeated Hamilton by 42 points. Splitting his time between the midfield and half back, he gathered 27 disposals at 82% efficiency, 10 contested possessions, four tackles and three clearances. His ability to generate forward ball movement through his kicking and handball receives was again a feature of his game.

Archie Taylor - Cobden
Taylor continued his impressive form despite Cobden's heavy loss to Koroit. Receiving increased attention from the opposition, the midfielder still gathered 27 disposals, including 15 contested possessions, seven inside 50s, five clearances and four tackles. His explosive work out of centre bounce was a standout feature, with Taylor handling the added opposition attention strongly to be named Cobden's best player.

Ovens & Murray Football Netball League:

Foster Gardiner - North Albury
Gardiner played an important role as North Albury edged Myrtleford by a single point in a thrilling contest. The defender finished with 20 disposals at 85% efficiency, nine contested possessions and five marks, defending strongly while also providing good run with ball in hand. With neither side kicking a goal in the final quarter, North Albury kicked five behinds to Myrtleford's four to hold on for the narrowest of victories.

Nick Newton - Lavington
Newton continued his consistent run of form as Lavington recorded a 25-point win over Albury. The defender collected 28 disposals at 79% efficiency and four marks in another reliable performance. He again provided plenty of ball-winning ability and composure from defence.

Cooper Hall - Lavington
Hall also put together a consistent performance alongside Newton in Lavington's 25-point win over Albury. He collected 20 disposals, including 13 contested possessions, four marks and four tackles while also kicking a goal. His team-first approach and clean ball use were strong features of his game.

Wimmera Football Netball League:

Cody Bryan - Horsham Saints
Bryan featured in Horsham Saints' heartbreaking one-point loss to Stawell, finishing with 12 disposals and five contested possessions. Playing away from his usual role as the main ruckman, Bryan contributed around the ground in the narrow defeat.
