Werribee Football Club is pleased to announce Mace Cousins and Isabella Dermody as the latest recipients of the Corked Player of the Month and Corked Volunteer of the Month awards for the 2026 season.

Presented monthly throughout the year, the awards recognise outstanding contributions both on and off the field, with each recipient receiving a voucher to enjoy Corked Wine Bar on Watton Street, which joined the club as a partner ahead of the 2026 season.

Cousins claims the Player of the Month award following an outstanding three-week stretch across Rounds 14-16, playing a pivotal role in Werribee extending its unbeaten run to seven matches.

Week after week, the often-unheralded lockdown defender is entrusted with shutting down the opposition's most dangerous small forward and has consistently delivered.

Returning after a two-week absence following a knock against Coburg, Cousins made an immediate impact against Carlton at IKON Park in Round 14. Matched up against former Werribee player and AFL draftee Flynn Young, he restricted his direct opponent to just one goal in their matchup while collecting 13 disposals and three intercept possessions of his own.

He followed that performance with one of his best games of the season in Werribee's 20-point win over Southport, where he was named among the club's best players. While once again strong defensively, Cousins was also a major attacking weapon off half-back, gathering 19 disposals at an elite 84% disposal efficiency to go with a team-high three score assists and seven score involvements. He also recorded a game-high six intercepts to finish with a season-best 103 ranking points.

The defender rounded out his impressive month in last Saturday's dramatic one-point victory over St Kilda, once again standing tall in defence with 15 disposals and four marks as Werribee extended its winning streak to seven matches.

Volunteer of the Month recipient Isabella Dermody has become an invaluable member of Werribee's football operations team since joining the club as an Operations Assistant.

Initially joining to support Werribee's VFL program, Isabella has also stepped up to assist the North Melbourne Werribee VFLW side, lending a hand wherever required across both football programs.

Supporting the Football Department wherever needed, Isabella assists Football Manager Kyle Hartigan with day-to-day operations, helps prepare team dinners at training, and works alongside Jimmy Masterson and the property team on match days.

Her contribution has been particularly significant over the past month, with the North Melbourne Werribee VFLW program regularly training at Melbourne Avalon Airport Oval following Werribee's VFL sessions. Isabella has played a key role in ensuring the shared use of the facility runs seamlessly, acting as a key point of contact between the two programs and regularly being among the last volunteers to leave after the VFLW side's late evening training sessions.
