At VFL level, Werribee recorded its fifth consecutive victory on Saturday morning, holding on to defeat Carlton by seven points at IKON Park to move back up to second on the ladder.

Away from the VFL, 20 Werribee-listed players were in action across the local competitions, highlighted by Jay Dahlhaus' six-goal return after missing more than a month with a lacerated liver, as a host of players continued to build their form around the state.

Geelong Football Netball League:

Jay Dahlhaus - Leopold
Dahlhaus made a spectacular return after more than a month on the sidelines with a lacerated liver, earning best-on-ground honours in Leopold's 63-point victory over previously unbeaten St Mary's. The experienced forward booted six goals from 12 disposals at a remarkable 92% disposal efficiency while also finishing with seven contested possessions and 10 score involvements in a dominant display.

Josh Sanders - St Mary's
Sanders was among St Mary's best despite the club suffering its first loss of the season, going down to Leopold by 63 points. The defender collected 19 disposals, seven marks, including five intercept marks, nine intercept possessions and four clearances while again excelling in one-on-one contests. His defensive work and composure with ball in hand remained standout features despite the difficult afternoon.

Micah Robb - Colac
Robb continued his excellent season despite Colac falling by just three points to Newtown & Chilwell. Named among the best players, the versatile utility gathered 25 disposals, 11 contested possessions, seven inside 50s, five clearances and two goals while rotating through half forward, the wing and midfield. It was another complete performance against one of the competition's strongest sides.

Liam Kershaw - St Joseph's
Kershaw bounced back with one of his strongest performances of the season in St Joseph's thrilling two-point victory over Grovedale. After the Joeys led by 23 points at the final change before surviving a late charge, the versatile defender amassed 29 disposals, eight marks, seven rebound 50s and six intercept possessions while controlling play across half back. His leadership, communication and contest work were key features in another important win.

Jack Mullen - St Joseph's
Mullen also played an important role in the thrilling two-point victory, finishing with 22 disposals, nine marks, seven tackles and five inside 50s while providing plenty of energy around the contest. His work rate again proved valuable as the Joeys held on in the closing stages.

Wimmera Football League:

Cody Bryan - Horsham Saints
Bryan produced the best performance of his senior career in Horsham's 25-point victory over Warrack Eagles. Named among the best players, the versatile big man finished with 20 disposals, seven marks, including four contested grabs, 15 hitouts and a huge five goals in a dominant display. His marking was on full display throughout the afternoon, as he consistently got his hands above the contest and impacted both in the ruck and forward line to help Horsham improve to 7-2 and consolidate second place on the ladder.

Essendon District Football League:

Tom Cappellari - Essendon Doutta Stars
Cappellari continued his encouraging return from injury despite Essendon Doutta Stars suffering a 105-point defeat to Keilor. Named among the best players in his strongest performance since returning, the midfielder gathered 29 disposals, five marks, four clearances, five inside 50s, a goal and eight score involvements while consistently finding the football throughout the afternoon. His ability to compete strongly and win the ball remained a major positive despite the difficult result.

Bellarine Football Netball League:

Archer Hanegraaf - Geelong Amateurs
Hanegraaf continued his outstanding season with another dominant midfield display in Geelong Amateurs' 51-point victory over Drysdale. The youngster racked up 34 disposals, a massive 19 contested possessions after recording 23 last weekend, to go with 12 clearances and six tackles as he controlled the contest around stoppages. His clearance work continues to improve as he cements himself among the competition's premier midfielders.

Luke Preece - Drysdale
Preece impressed despite Drysdale's 51-point loss to Geelong Amateurs. Tasked with playing a more accountable defensive role against one of the competition's premier key forwards, the defender gathered 22 disposals, seven marks and 10 rebound 50s while restricting his direct opponent to just one goal despite giving away considerable size. His defensive discipline again stood out.

Tom Webster - Newcomb
Webster continued his excellent season despite Newcomb's 12-point defeat to Anglesea. Named among the best players, the key defender collected 19 disposals, 10 contested possessions, seven marks, including four contested grabs, and six intercept possessions while playing an outstanding defensive role on one of the competition's best forwards. Swinging forward late, Webster capped off his performance with two goals as he continues to impact at whichever end he is thrown to.

Hampden Football Netball League:

Myles McCluggage - South Warrnambool
Returning to local football after stringing together multiple games at VFL level, McCluggage immediately made his presence felt despite South Warrnambool's four-point loss to Warrnambool. Named among the best players, the midfielder amassed 29 disposals, 11 tackles, seven clearances, seven inside 50s and a goal while once again leading a youthful midfield group. His outstanding two-way running and leadership around the contest were major features of another excellent performance.

Archie Taylor - Cobden
Taylor maintained his outstanding consistency despite Cobden's 19-point loss to Port Fairy. Named among the best players, the midfielder collected 23 disposals, 10 contested possessions, seven clearances, seven tackles and seven inside 50s while again bringing relentless pressure around the contest. His explosiveness from stoppages and defensive intensity continue to be hallmarks of his game.

Tylar Watts - Portland
Watts looked set for another dominant afternoon before injury brought his day to an early end in Portland's 55-point victory over Terang Mortlake. The ruckman controlled the opening stages, not losing a single hitout in the first quarter before a groin concern forced him from the game during the second term as a precaution. Prior to the injury, Watts had already recorded 25 hitouts, 11 hitouts to advantage and a goal in another influential display.

Riddell District Football Netball League:

Nash King - Wallan
After beginning his day as Werribee's emergency at IKON Park, King made the trip to Riddells Creek Recreation Reserve and played an important role in Wallan's 62-point victory over reigning premiers Riddell. The midfielder finished with 25 disposals, eight marks and seven tackles while using the ball at an outstanding 84% efficiency. His composure, clean ball use and willingness to play his role were important contributors as Wallan improved to 10-0 for the season and remained on top of the Riddell District Football Netball League ladder.

Ovens & Murray Football Netball League:

Cooper Hall - Lavington Panthers
Hall continued his impressive development in Lavington's nine-point victory over North Albury. Spending much of the afternoon across half forward before moving into the midfield in the final quarter, the youngster gathered 18 disposals, 11 contested possessions, five clearances, four tackles, a goal and eight score involvements. Hall again showed glimpses of his class with ball in hand and produced several important moments as Lavington secured another valuable win.

Foster Gardiner - North Albury
Despite North Albury's nine-point loss to Hall's Lavington, Gardiner produced one of his strongest performances of the season. Named among the best players, the defender amassed 26 disposals, 11 marks, including four intercept marks, 13 intercept possessions and 10 contested possessions while providing plenty of drive from half back. His defensive work and ability to consistently win the football stood out in another excellent display.

Western Football Netball League:

Daly Andrews - Yarraville Seddon Eagles
Andrews continued to build momentum in his third game back from injury, helping Yarraville Seddon to a 25-point victory over Sunshine. The midfielder accumulated 25 disposals, 14 contested possessions, 12 clearances and nine inside 50s in another commanding display around stoppages. His contested work and clearance ability were standout features as he continued to build valuable match fitness with each passing week.

Rani Pavlidis - Werribee Districts
Pavlidis worked hard despite Werribee Districts suffering a 53-point loss to Parkside. Facing a mature and physical opponent while receiving close attention throughout the afternoon, the small forward finished with 11 disposals, six contested possessions and five score involvements. Although he couldn't have his usual impact with ball in hand, Pavlidis continued to compete strongly and never stopped presenting in what proved a valuable learning experience.

Victorian Amateur Football Association:

Mitch Lloyd - University Blues
Lloyd continued his strong season as University Blues recorded a 14-point victory over University Blacks. Named among the best players, the key defender gathered 18 disposals, six marks, seven intercept possessions and three tackles while again providing strong support behind the ball. His intercept marking and ability to read the play continued to be key strengths in another impressive defensive performance.

Harrison Miller - Williamstown CYMS
Miller battled hard despite Williamstown CYMS suffering a 57-point loss to Old Geelong. After finding limited opportunities deep forward, Miller was moved through the midfield where he was able to influence the contest with several strong defensive efforts and looked more comfortable around the football, finishing with seven contested possessions and two clearances.
