With Werribee enjoying the Round 13 bye after sitting second on the Smithy's VFL ladder heading into the weekend, there was still plenty of action for Werribee-listed players, with 23 players in action at local level across the state.

Several players who featured in Werribee's Round 12 win over Brisbane returned to their local clubs for the weekend, while others continued to build strong form and press their claims ahead of Werribee's return from the bye.

Ballarat Football League:

Tom Simpson - Ballarat Swans
Simpson was outstanding and earned best-on-ground honours in Ballarat's 59-point win over North Ballarat. The winger amassed 35 disposals, 10 marks, 10 inside 50s, 11 score involvements and a goal, spending the majority of the afternoon on the outside before moving on-ball late in the game. One of the few players to feature both in Werribee's Round 12 win over Brisbane before the bye and in action over the weekend, Simpson returned to local level and immediately made his presence felt as the Swans improved to 8-2 for the season.

Lachie Charleson - East Point
Charleson made a successful return to local football despite East Point's 12-point loss to Sebastopol. In his first local match since 2022 and returning from the shoulder injury suffered following Werribee's Round 10 win over Essendon, the small forward finished with 11 disposals, two goals and two clearances while also spending time through the midfield.

Bellarine Football Netball League:

Luke Preece - Drysdale
Preece was outstanding despite Drysdale suffering a heavy defeat to Queenscliff. Named Drysdale's best afield, the defender recorded 23 disposals, 12 intercept possessions, 10 rebound 50s and eight marks, including six intercept marks and five contested grabs. After Drysdale led by nine points at half time, Queenscliff kicked 13 goals to one in the second half, but Preece continued to compete strongly and provide drive from defence whilst not losing a one-on-one contest all day.

Archer Hanegraaf - Geelong Amateurs
Hanegraaf continued his excellent season in Geelong Amateurs' 68-point win over Modewarre. Named among the best players, the young midfielder amassed 30 disposals, a massive 23 contested possessions, 12 clearances, eight score involvements and a goal. His clearance work was a standout feature in difficult conditions.

Essendon District Football League:

Tom Cappellari - Essendon Doutta Stars
Cappellari continued his encouraging return from injury in Doutta Stars' nine-point victory over Maribyrnong Park. In just his second game back, he gathered 25 disposals, six tackles and three clearances while splitting his time between the midfield and forward line. In difficult conditions, Cappellari's ability to win territory and impact around stoppages was a key factor in the win.

Massimo Raso - Deer Park
Raso played his role in Deer Park's important 16-point victory over previously unbeaten Strathmore. Rotating between high forward and midfield, he gathered 15 disposals, seven score involvements and four tackles while helping hand Strathmore its first loss of the season. After featuring at VFL level before the bye, Raso adjusted seamlessly back to local football.

Western Football Netball League:

Daly Andrews - Yarraville Seddon Eagles
Andrews backed up his successful return from injury with another strong performance in Yarraville Seddon's 93-point smashing over the Point Cook Centrals. In just his second game back, the midfielder collected 24 disposals, six inside 50s, 11 score involvements and two goals. Andrews ran out the game strongly and looked increasingly comfortable as he continued building match fitness.

Rani Pavlidis - Werribee Districts
Pavlidis enjoyed the best game of his senior career, booting a career-high five goals in Werribee Districts' big win over Altona. Named among the best players, the small forward finished with 14 disposals, 11 score involvements and five majors while finding multiple ways to impact the scoreboard. The haul took Pavlidis' season tally to 15 goals, ranking third at the club in his first season of senior football.

Josh Kellett - Werribee Districts
Alongside Pavlidis in Werribee Districts' 69-point victory over Altona, Kellett's return from injury hit a minor hurdle. In his second game back, Kellett played only the first half before being withdrawn as a precaution after feeling uncomfortable with his knee. The defender gathered five disposals and two rebound 50s before being rested.

Hampden Football Netball League:

Myles McCluggage - South Warrnambool
McCluggage led from the front in South Warrnambool's five-point win over Cobden. The midfielder finished with 17 disposals, 10 contested possessions, five clearances, two goals and an enormous 13 tackles while guiding a youthful side to victory. After playing for Werribee heading into the bye, McCluggage returned to local level and was named among the best players.

Archie Taylor - Cobden
On the other side of the result to McCluggage's South Warrnambool, Taylor returned to his best despite Cobden narrowly falling by five points. Named among the best players for the seventh time in eight games, the midfielder collected 26 disposals, 13 contested possessions, five clearances, nine tackles and a goal. His run-and-carry was again a prominent feature as he consistently drove the ball forward from stoppages.

Tylar Watts - Portland
Watts backed up last week's 75-hitout masterclass with another dominant display in Portland's 46-point win over Port Fairy. Named best on ground, the ruckman stuffed the stat sheet, collecting 21 disposals, 31 hitouts, 11 hitouts to advantage, five clearances, five tackles and two goals while consistently giving his midfielders first use. His ability to impact both at stoppages and around the ground continues to make him one of the form ruckmen at local level.

Victorian Amateur Football Association:

Mitch Lloyd - University Blues
Lloyd continued his excellent form in University Blues' 43-point win over St Bernard's. The key defender gathered 24 disposals, nine marks and 10 intercept possessions while consistently reading the play and positioning himself well behind the ball. His intercept work and cleanliness at ground level were standout features in another strong defensive performance.

Harrison Miller - Williamstown CYMS
Miller was one of Williamstown CYMS' better contributors despite a difficult afternoon against Old Ivanhoe, going down by 96 points. Named among the best players, the forward finished with 16 disposals and a goal before spending time in the midfield where he helped spark periods of resistance. His form continues to build after an interrupted start to the season.

Riddell District Football Netball League:

Nash King - Wallan
King once again starred as Wallan recorded a 110-point win over Lancefield. Named among the best players, the midfielder accumulated 35 disposals, eight marks, five clearances, 12 score involvements and a goal. His composure with ball in hand and ability to deliver quality entries inside 50 were key features as Wallan remained unbeaten after ten games.

Ovens & Murray Football Netball League:

Nick Newton - Lavington
Newton was influential across half back in Lavington's 48-point win over Wodonga Raiders, collecting 24 disposals, nine rebound 50s and nine intercept possessions while providing plenty of run and carry from defence. His ability to find the football and drive Lavington forward was a strong feature of his performance.

Cooper Hall - Lavington
Alongside Newton, Hall produced the best performance of his young senior career in Lavington's win over Wodonga Raiders. The midfielder finished with 20 disposals, 10 contested possessions, four clearances, four tackles and two goals in a complete display. Having returned to a full-time midfield role in recent weeks, Hall showed greater consistency throughout the game and was rewarded with his first 20-disposal game at senior level.

Foster Gardiner - North Albury
Gardiner played an important defensive role in North Albury's thrilling one-point win over Corowa-Rutherglen. Named among the best players, he gathered 14 disposals and nine intercept possessions while limiting the influence of his direct opponent. His communication and defensive organisation were key factors in helping North Albury secure the narrow victory.

Wimmera Football League:

Cody Bryan - Horsham Saints
Bryan put together a strong performance despite Horsham's 31-point loss to Ararat. Spending time in both the ruck and down back, the big man recorded 10 disposals, 19 hitouts, eight contested possessions and five intercept possessions while providing an important presence at both ends of the ground.

Geelong Football Netball League:

Josh Sanders - St Mary's
Sanders made it two strong games since returning from injury in St Mary's 16-point victory over Newtown & Chilwell. Named among the best players, the defender finished with 16 disposals, seven tackles and eight intercept possessions while again impressing with his strength in one-on-one contests and reliable ball use. The win improved St Mary's to a perfect 10-0 record.

Eli Pearce - Bell Park
Pearce continued his strong run of form in Bell Park's 44-point win over St Joseph's. Splitting his time between the ruck and midfield, Pearce was influential around the contest and added two goals in another impressive all-round performance. His recent form continues to build as he pushes his case for a VFL debut coming out of the bye.

Jack Mullen - St Joseph's
Playing predominantly through the midfield, Mullen produced arguably his best performance of the season despite St Joseph's defeat to Bell Park. The midfielder hit the scoreboard with a goal and brought strong intensity around the contest in one of his most influential performances of the year.

Liam Kershaw - St Joseph's
Kershaw played a solid role for St Joseph's in the loss to Pearce's Bell Park and celebrated his first goal of the season. Spending time across half back and on the wing, the versatile Kershaw contributed both in working the ball out of the backline and getting further up the ground throughout the afternoon as he continues to put together an impressive season for the Joeys.
