At VFL level, Werribee continued its strong form with a 59-point victory over Coburg on Saturday, kicking 16 of the final 19 goals after quarter time to record a third consecutive win. The result lifted Werribee to third on the ladder as the club passed the halfway mark of the 2026 Smithy’s VFL season.

While a number of leagues enjoyed a bye across the King's Birthday long weekend, 13 Werribee-listed players were still in action at local level. Luke Preece produced one of the moments of the weekend, kicking his first goal of 2026 in dramatic fashion to secure a two-point win for Drysdale, while several others continued their strong seasons with important contributions for their local clubs.

Bellarine Football Netball League:

Luke Preece - Drysdale
Preece produced one of the performances of the weekend as Drysdale edged Anglesea by two points in a thriller. Named among the best players, the defender collected 19 disposals, eight marks, including six contested grabs, and eight intercept possessions in a dominant display. After beginning the day as an intercept defender and later shifting into a lockdown role following an injury, Preece was swung forward late in the contest where he took a crucial contested mark at the 30-minute mark of the final quarter before kicking the match-winning goal with a classy banana from a tight angle. It was his first goal of the season and one that secured a memorable victory for the Hawks.

Tom Webster - Newcomb
Webster backed up last week's three-goal haul with another impressive performance despite Newcomb's loss to Barwon Heads. Named among the best players, the key position player gathered 21 disposals at 76% efficiency and seven marks, including four contested grabs. After kicking his first three goals of the season last week, Webster again finished with a team-high three goals despite spending most of the day in defence before being swung forward late in the third quarter.

Archer Hanegraaf - Geelong Amateurs
Hanegraaf continued his strong first senior season in Geelong Amateurs' 51-point win over Portarlington. The young midfielder collected 24 disposals, 10 contested possessions, 10 clearances and nine inside 50s while again proving influential around the contest. Hanegraaf's clean hands and composure in traffic were key features of another strong performance as he continued building an impressive body of work against senior opposition.

Geelong Football Netball League:

Eli Pearce - Bell Park
Returning from a finger injury that had sidelined him since early May, Pearce made an immediate impact despite Bell Park's 21-point loss to Colac. Named among the best players, Pearce gathered 24 disposals, 14 contested possessions, eight clearances, eight score involvements and two goals in an outstanding first game back. Lining up on fellow Werribee-listed player Micah Robb at stages throughout the afternoon, Pearce showed no signs of rust and was one of Bell Park's standout performers.

Micah Robb - Colac
Robb continued his outstanding run of form in Colac's 21-point victory over Bell Park. Splitting his time between the midfield and half-forward line, Robb amassed 22 disposals at 73% efficiency, 14 contested possessions, eight clearances and six inside 50s. His ability to win the hard ball and drive his side forward again stood out strongly, while his consistency continues to impress after being among Colac's best players throughout the past month.

Liam Kershaw - St Joseph's
Kershaw contributed in St Joseph's dramatic one-point victory over Leopold, the club's second consecutive thriller. The defender finished with 21 disposals, eight marks and four intercept possessions while helping the Joeys hold on in another nail-biting finish. Kershaw continued to provide composure behind the ball and played an important role in the victory.

Jack Mullen - St Joseph's
Mullen continued to contribute in St Joseph's one-point victory, collecting 11 disposals, five marks and seven score involvements. The forward remained heavily involved in St Joseph's attacking chains throughout the afternoon, helping create scoring opportunities for teammates while continuing to provide a strong presence ahead of the ball as the Joeys secured another thrilling win.

Ballarat Football League:

Tom Simpson - Ballarat Swans
Simpson filled the stat sheet in Ballarat's 19-point win over Sunbury. Spending most of the day on a wing before moving inside during the final quarter, Simpson amassed 34 disposals, 17 contested possessions, 11 inside 50s, eight tackles, six clearances and a goal. In wet and slippery conditions, his contested work and pressure around the ball were outstanding, while his work rate in both directions again stood out. The win helped Ballarat strengthen its hold on second position on the ladder.

Goulburn Valley Football League:

Anthony Depasquale - Kyabram
Depasquale continued his strong season despite Kyabram suffering a 15-point loss to Mooroopna. The key forward finished with 18 disposals, eight marks, 12 score involvements and four goals, while also registering five behinds in a performance that could easily have produced an even bigger haul. Depasquale was a constant threat inside 50 and now sits second in the league goalkicking race despite the reigning premiers slipping to seventh on the ladder after nine rounds.

Ovens & Murray Football Netball League:

Foster Gardiner - North Albury
Gardiner was named among North Albury's best players in its 14-point win over Wodonga Raiders. The defender finished with 11 disposals, three marks and three tackles while defending strongly throughout the afternoon. Gardiner's composure and energy were important features in a tight contest as North Albury secured an important victory.

Nick Newton - Lavington
Newton showed some promising signs despite Lavington falling to Wangaratta Rovers by 30 points. The defender collected 16 disposals and four tackles while again displaying his ability to break the game open with his run and carry. Newton provided several impactful moments throughout the afternoon and looked most dangerous when driving the ball forward from defence.

Cooper Hall - Lavington
Hall battled hard in Lavington's loss to Wangaratta Rovers, finishing with 16 disposals, six contested possessions, three clearances and six tackles. Hall showed flashes of his talent throughout the afternoon and remained competitive around the contest, producing several moments that highlighted his ability to impact the game.
