Final Practice Match at Whitten Oval
13 March 2025

Werribee will wrap up its four-game practice match schedule with a return to the western suburbs to face Footscray at Whitten Oval on Saturday.
Due to forecast 37-degree heat, the match has been rescheduled to an 11:00am start.
With Footscray’s AFL side kicking off its season this weekend, the game presents Werribee’s first opportunity for 2025 to test itself against AFL-listed opposition.
After rotating through a number of players in last week’s practice match against Williamstown, Werribee coach Jimmy Allan learnt much from the game.
“Despite the scoreline, there is no doubt that it was a positive night for the footy club. We were able to expose 22 players who are new into our program to VFL and the experience they gained from testing themselves against a really strong Williamstown outfit is invaluable.”
Allan added, “The majority of our senior regulars who had the week off, will play this week and they can’t wait to crack in on Saturday.”
Werribee will field a stronger lineup this week, with newly appointed captain Jesse Clark set to lead the team out for the first time after being named skipper last week.
The match serves as the final tune-up before the VFL season opener—a Grand Final rematch against Southport seven days later.
