HOW IT HAPPENED
Werribee recovered from a slow start and piled on six unanswered second-term goals to take a three-goal buffer into the main break. Sandringham turned the tables in the third and held the “big W” goalless, to cut the margin to one straight kick. An arm wrestle ensued and lasted almost half the final quarter before Werribee put the foot down and banged on four consecutive goals to secure another important away victory. Ryan Hebron played his best game in black and gold, milestone man Nick Coughlan was instrumental down back and usual suspects Tom Gribble and Michael Barlow were prolific.
Tom Gribble: 32 disposals, seven inside-50s, one goal
Ryan Hebron: 21 disposals, 12 marks, five rebound-50s, one goal
Michael Barlow: 23 disposals, six marks, three goals
Nick Coughlan: 15 disposals, nine marks, six rebound-50s
