Practice match wrap: Footscray vs Werribee

A second-half Bulldogs blitz has seen a super-sized Werribee team go down to Footscray by 54 points in Saturday's practice match at VU Whitten Oval.

Footscray: 2.4 5.6 12.9 17.12 (114)
Werribee: 1.2 6.3 7.6 9.6 (60)

Footscray: Trengove 3, Gardner 3, J Wallis 2, Lynch 2, Sweet, Nash, McComb, Lipinksi, Hayes, Porter
Werribee: Coughlan 2, Malual 2, Brew, Boyd, Carlin, Kemp, Mould

Werribee: Barlow, Spencer, Nielson, Sodomaco

How it happened

After trailing by 14 points early in the second quarter, Werribee grabbed its chance with the wind at its back, Nick Coughlan and Bior Malual each booting two for the term to steer their side to a three-point half time lead. But as the visitors rotated through their 39-man squad in a bid to get a look at most of their list, Footscray took advantage of the disruption to seize the momentum. The Dogs sent home 12 second-half goals to three to secure a comfortable victory, a bit of baulk-and-weave brilliance from Ryan Kemp and a late goal to Josh Mould providing the sole Werribee resistance in the final term.
