Werribee will look to make it back-to-back wins this weekend when they take on Essendon in a Round 10 clash at Windy Hill.

The Sunday afternoon matchup gets underway at 12:05pm, with Werribee making its first trip to Windy Hill since 2022.

That last meeting at the venue saw the Bombers edge out Werribee by five points with a late goal deep in the final quarter. Since then, however, Werribee has responded with consecutive wins over Essendon, claiming victories in both 2023 and Round 2 last season at The Hangar.

Werribee enters the clash sitting ninth on the Smithy’s VFL ladder and inside the wildcard positions following a strong return from the bye with a 31-point win over Collingwood. The victory improved Dan Lowther’s side’s record to 4-3-1 after nine rounds.

The win over the Magpies also saw Werribee produce its highest score of the season, with Harry Maguire kicking four goals in the first half, while Charlie Lazzaro and Dom Brew once again led the way through the midfield.

Essendon also comes into Round 10 off the back of a win, defeating an injury-hit Richmond outfit by 18 points at Windy Hill last weekend.

The Bombers currently sit 14th on the ladder, just two premiership points behind Werribee, with a 4-4 record through eight matches.

Werribee members can purchase half-price away tickets for Sunday’s clash, with memberships also including free entry to Werribee’s remaining six home games at Melbourne Avalon Airport Oval.
