Werribee Football Club is pleased to introduce the Corked Player of the Month and Corked Volunteer of the Month awards, with Ryan Eyers and Marco De Muri named as the inaugural recipients for the 2026 season.

The awards will be presented monthly throughout the season, recognising standout contributions both on and off the field, with each recipient awarded a Corked voucher to enjoy the local venue, which has joined the club as a new partner for 2026.

Ryan Eyers has made a standout start to the 2026 campaign, picking up where he left off after injury ended his 2025 season early, where he had led the club’s best and fairest count through the opening 12 rounds.

The key defender has been named in the best players in all four games to open the season, continuing to establish himself as one of, if not the best key defender in the competition, while also earning selection in the VFL State Team to pull on the Big V against the SANFL.

Eyers leads the VFL in spoils with 35 across the opening four rounds, while also ranking top three at the club in disposal efficiency, intercept possessions and intercept marks.

His season began with a strong performance against Gold Coast at People First Stadium, where he was handed the daunting task of matching up on number one draft pick Jamarra Ugle-Hagan in his first match for premiership points in his new colours at the Suns, keeping him goalless.

A couple of weeks later, he earned his first Totally Workwear Hoppers Crossing Player of the Match honours against Geelong.

Off the back of the State Game, where he played his role on dominant SANFL key forward Liam McBean in the Big V’s victory, Eyers again featured in the best in Werribee’s win over Frankston, recording a career-high nine marks in another near best on ground performance.

Off the field, Marco De Muri has been recognised for his outstanding contribution to the club as a valued volunteer.

A long-time supporter through Werribee Steel, Marco has become increasingly involved as his love for the club has grown, playing a hands-on role across both training and match days.

In 2026, he has not missed a session or game, assisting wherever needed, from helping alongside Jimmy Masterson with property to collecting footballs all around Melbourne Avalon Airport Oval at the end of each session.

His commitment has even extended interstate, travelling with the team to their Round 1 clash against Gold Coast.

The introduction of the awards comes as Corked Wine Bar joins Werribee Football Club as a new partner in 2026.

Located just a short walk from Melbourne Avalon Airport Oval on Watton Street, Corked is a newly revamped wine bar, complete with its signature hidden sliding door entrance. With a central bar offering a wide range of wines and cocktails, along with a courtyard overlooking the Werribee River, the venue provides a relaxed setting for Werribee locals.

Corked’s Mackenzie Kelly said the venue was excited to partner with the club and support the initiative.

“We’re excited to partner with Werribee Football Club, being located just a stone’s throw away from Melbourne Avalon Airport Oval,” Kelly said.

“Our family already has a strong connection with the club through Tuckers, so it was a no-brainer to come on board with Corked.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming the Player and Volunteer of the Month recipients to enjoy a night at the wine bar, and to seeing plenty of Werribee fans drop in after matches as well.”
