It was a big weekend for Werribee players at both levels, returning to the winners list in the VFL with a 22-point win over Frankston, while 19 players took the field for their local sides, producing some huge performances across the board.

Victorian Amateur Football Association:

Harrison Miller - Williamstown CYMS
After breaking through and playing his first 11 games of VFL football in 2025, Harrison Miller returned for his first game at any level this season off the back of an injury-interrupted pre-season in Williamstown CYMS’ season opener. With his minutes managed, the small forward still had a huge impact, finishing with 22 disposals, seven marks and four goals, while generating a staggering 11 shots on goal, including seven behinds, and 15 score involvements in a best on ground performance.

Mitch Lloyd - University Blues
Also featuring in a season opener, Mitch Lloyd warmed up as an emergency for Werribee before making his way across Melbourne and arriving during the first quarter at Melbourne University Oval for University Blues’ 50-point win over Old Trinity. Entering the game at quarter time with no lead-in, he made an immediate and impressive impact with 14 disposals at 79%, six marks and four tackles, while also defending strongly in his role down back, highlighting his ability to perform under difficult circumstances.

Riddell District Football Netball League:

Nash King - Wallan
In his first official game of 2026, Nash King made a statement performance in Wallan’s 22-point win over Woodend-Hesket. Playing through the midfield and half forward, he collected 31 disposals, 10 clearances and seven tackles, while also kicking three goals and recording seven score involvements, with his outstanding all-round game earning him a spot in the best.

Goulburn Valley Football Netball League:

Anthony Depasquale - Kyabram
Anthony Depasquale continued his strong start to the season with a dominant display in Kyabram’s 160-point demolition of Tatura. Rotating between forward and midfield, Depasquale picked up a massive 35 disposals and took 15 marks around the ground. He also recorded 14 score involvements, finishing with four goals and five behinds from nine scoring shots, with an even bigger day left out there on an already dominant performance. His work rate up the ground and ability to consistently threaten inside 50 stood out, while his improved defensive pressure was also evident, with his performance seeing him named in the best.

Reuben Rode - Kyabram
In the same dominant win, Reuben Rode produced a strong performance, finishing with 17 disposals and a goal. He worked harder offensively to get involved in more scoring chains, recording 10 score involvements, while his defensive pressure remained a feature with five tackles.

Hampden Football Netball League:

Myles McCluggage - South Warrnambool
Myles McCluggage continued his impressive run of form in South Warrnambool’s 16-point win over Warrnambool. He finished with 24 disposals, including 13 contested possessions and seven clearances in the middle. He backed up his huge 15 tackles last week with another nine against Warrnambool and hit the scoreboard once again for a goal, with his balance between attack and defence standing out in a best on ground showing.

Archie Taylor - Cobden
The young midfielder Archie Taylor also delivered a best on ground performance across the Hampden Football Netball League, helping Cobden on their way to a tight 11-point win over Port Fairy. He finished with 27 disposals, 13 contested possessions and 11 tackles, while also kicking a goal, and has now been named in the best in both of Cobden’s opening two games to start the season.

Tylar Watts - Portland
Tylar Watts played an even split between ruck and forward in Portland’s loss to Terang Mortlake, finishing with 15 disposals, 32 hitouts, including nine to advantage, and five marks, including three contested. He also hit the scoreboard with two goals and continued to provide a strong presence around stoppage.

Geelong Football Netball League:

Micah Robb - Colac
Micah Robb provided an early spark in Colac’s 16-point win over Geelong West, kicking two first-quarter goals after starting at half forward. He later rotated through the wing and midfield, finishing with 16 disposals and maintaining strong consistency across multiple roles.

Caidan Gardiner - Grovedale
In his second game back from injury, Caidan Gardiner was showing exactly why Werribee recruited him from Cairns in Grovedale’s 67-point win over St Albans. Dominating the ruck, he recorded 39 hitouts, including a massive 18 to advantage, while also collecting 15 disposals at 93%, with his influence around stoppage and follow-up work at ground level, also shown through his seven intercept possessions a standout across three quarters. Unfortunately, Caidan’s day came to an end early, sustaining another hamstring injury in the final term, putting a dampener on his dominant performance and Grovedale’s 11 goal win.

Ollie Bridgewater - Bell Park
In his first official game back after a broken leg, Ollie Bridgewater delivered a dominant best on ground performance in Bell Park’s win. He finished with 11 disposals at 91%, including 10 contested possessions and five clearances, while also recording 32 hitouts as he controlled stoppages and gave his midfield first use.

Eli Pearce - Bell Park
The 194cm Eli Pearce showed his versatility in Bell Park’s 29-point win over South Barwon, rotating between midfield and key forward while also pinch hitting in the ruck for Ollie Bridgewater. He finished with 17 disposals and 11 contested possessions, using his power and speed to impact the contest while remaining team-first.

Liam Kershaw - St Joseph’s
Liam Kershaw finished with 20 disposals and five marks across half back in St Joseph’s loss to Newtown and Chilwell. He also recorded four rebound 50s and six one percenters, reflecting his defensive work rate and ability to impact behind the ball as he continues to develop in the role.

Western Football Netball League:

Rani Pavlidis - Werribee Districts
Rani Pavlidis backed up his impressive debut with another strong showing in Werribee Districts’ 98-point win over Point Cook Centrals. Playing as a small forward, the 18-year-old collected 18 disposals, kicked four goals and recorded 11 score involvements, as he made it six goals across his opening two games of senior footy. His ability to find space, make good decisions inside 50 and impact the scoreboard saw him named in the best.

Bellarine Football Netball League:

Tom Webster - Newcomb
Tom Webster had a dominant game defensively in Newcomb’s 33-point win over Modewarre, limiting his opponent’s influence with strong one-on-one work. He also got involved offensively, finishing with 14 disposals, including 10 kicks, to go with several marks and four rebound 50s, with his performance earning him a place in the best.

Ovens & Murray Football Netball League:

Cooper Hall - Lavington
Cooper Hall was named in the best in Lavington’s nine-point loss to Yarrawonga, finishing with 14 disposals, five clearances and a goal.

Nick Newton - Lavington
After lining up for Werribee against Geelong in Round 3, Nick Newton featured alongside Cooper Hall at Lavington, spending time on the wing and through the midfield. He finished with 17 disposals and six marks, including three intercept, while working hard defensively and continuing to build consistency within the group.

Foster Gardiner - North Albury
Foster Gardiner, who plays across both ends for Werribee, continues to build his midfield craft at local level in North Albury’s loss to Wodonga. He finished with 13 disposals, four marks and three tackles, with his work rate and decision making standing out, particularly in tight spaces.

Bendigo Football Netball League:

Zane Keighran - Strathfieldsaye
Zane Keighran returned to Strathfieldsaye following a stint with Calder United during their bye last week, but suffered a calf injury early in the first quarter in their loss to Gisborne. He attempted to play on and spent time forward, finishing with nine disposals before calling it a day with a quarter to play as Strathfieldsaye went down by 35 points.
