Exciting young midfielder Xavier Ivisic will make his Werribee debut this Saturday, named as one of five changes for the Round 4 clash with Frankston at Melbourne Avalon Airport Oval.

Ivisic has been in the selection frame across the opening rounds, travelling as the emergency in Round 1 against the Suns before earning his opportunity this weekend.

The 19-year-old put his hand up over the state league bye, producing a standout performance for St Mary’s in the GFNL. Playing on the wing, Ivisic collected 28 disposals, took six marks and kicked three goals in a dominant display, working hard in both directions and proving a dangerous option forward of the ball in a 69-point win over Colac.

Ivisic joined Werribee after spending the 2025 season at AFL level with Geelong, where he made 13 VFL appearances. Primarily used as an outside midfielder and flanker, he averaged 15 disposals and 3.5 tackles per game, with his best football coming late in the season.

His standout performances included 24 disposals against Collingwood, along with a two-goal, 15-disposal outing in a win over North Melbourne, highlighting his ability to impact both through the midfield and forward of centre.

Ivisic was selected with Geelong’s first pick in the 2024 Rookie Draft following a strong Under 18s campaign with Vic Country and the Geelong Falcons. Across that season, he averaged 22 disposals per game at the National Championships and 25 disposals per game in the Coates Talent League.

Ivisic will wear the number 8 guernsey in his debut, becoming the first Werribee player to don the number since life member and Norm Goss Medalist Jack Henderson in the club’s 2024 VFL Grand Final victory.

He comes into the side for Saturday’s clash with Frankston, as Werribee returns home following the state league bye.

The standalone clash sees Werribee take on the Dolphins at Melbourne Avalon Airport Oval, with both sides entering the contest with a 1–2 record and looking to build momentum early in the season.
