With the VFL State Game returning for a third consecutive year, Werribee will be strongly represented this weekend, with a VFL-high five players selected in the final Smithy’s VFL State Team to take on the SANFL.

Following last Wednesday’s announcement of the initial 43-man squad, Dom Brew, Louis Pinnuck, Jack Riding and Ryan Eyers have all been selected in the final side, while captain Jesse Clark has earned a late call-up following his performance in Round 3.

Brew and Pinnuck again headline the selections after playing key roles in last year’s win over the SANFL. Brew has now been selected for a third consecutive season after captaining the side in both 2024 and 2025, while Pinnuck returns after his best-on-ground performance last year, where he was awarded the Frank Johnson Medal.

Riding’s first VFL State Team honour comes after a strong 2025 season, which saw him earn a pre-season opportunity with Hawthorn’s AFL side, and he has carried that form into 2026. After averaging a career-high 24 disposals per game with increased midfield responsibility last year, he has opened this season strongly, averaging over 26 disposals, 10 contested possessions and four clearances across the first three games.

Eyers’ selection comes after a strong start to his first full season in Werribee colours. After crossing to the club in 2025, he enjoyed an outstanding debut season, winning the club’s Best First Year Player award and leading the best and fairest count before a hamstring injury in Round 12 cut his campaign short.

Despite that setback, he has taken off where he left off in 2026, highlighted by his Round 1 performance where he kept number one draft pick Jamarra Ugle-Hagan goalless, before being named best on ground in Werribee’s Round 3 clash against Geelong on Saturday.

Clark rounds out the club’s representatives, with the Werribee captain earning a late call-up to the final 25-player squad after not being part of the initial 43-man squad. His selection comes off the back of a career-high 27 disposals in defence last week, where he led from the front in a strong performance, earning league-wide recognition 72 games into his VFL career.

Senior coach Dan Lowther will also be part of the Big V setup, named as an assistant coach alongside Jackson Kornberg.

The match will be played as part of a representative double-header at Glenelg’s Stratarama Stadium on Saturday, April 11, with the VFLW clash from 12:00pm followed by the VFL from 2:30pm.

Werribee’s presence extends into the VFLW State Team, with six North Melbourne-Werribee players selected in the final 23-player squad. Alana Barba, Maddie Di Cosmo, Ellyse Gamble, Stella Reid, Charlotte Ryan and Renee Tierney have all been named.
