Werribee return home this Saturday for their first game at Melbourne Avalon Airport Oval in 2026, hosting ladder-leaders Geelong in a big Round 3 clash.

After opening the season in Queensland before heading to the bay last week, Werribee are back on home soil for the first time under new senior coach Dan Lowther, with a midday matchup locked in for Easter Saturday.

Saturday’s game will again see Werribee on the big stage, broadcast live on ABC, giving fans unable to attend the chance to tune in for free. With local leagues yet to begin, a strong crowd is expected at Melbourne Avalon Airport Oval as the Werribee community turns out for the club’s home opener.

Werribee will be looking to bounce back after last week’s loss against Sandringham, where a six-goal first half lead wasn’t enough, with the Zebras finishing strongly to run out 16-point winners.

There were plenty of positives for Werribee Charlie Lazzaro continued his impressive start to life in the black and gold with 25 disposals and two goals. The backline can hold their heads high after their efforts, led by Jaelen Pavlidis, who kicked his first goal in Werribee colours in his 36th game, alongside Jesse Clark, Josh Kellett and Ryan Eyers.

Geelong is in red-hot form, sitting on top of the ladder following two dominant home wins to open their season. The Cats defeated Essendon by 85 points in Round 1 then backing it up with a 47-point win over Box Hill.

It will be Geelong’s first trip away from home in 2026 as they head up the highway to Melbourne Avalon Airport Oval this Saturday.

Werribee members receive free entry to all home games and are encouraged to secure their membership ahead of Saturday or at the gate on arrival.

Fans can also kick off their matchday early at the club’s first President’s Function of 2026, starting from 10am. Former Werribee player and current Geelong AFL midfielder Shaun Mannagh will headline the event as guest speaker, alongside senior coach Dan Lowther.
