Jack Riding led all comers with 29 disposals, while the remainder of the best players were led by the backline. Jaelen Pavlidis, Jesse Clark, Josh Kellett and Ryan Eyers can all hold their heads high after standing tall in defence as the pressure continued to mount.

Jack Riding provided the perfect start for Werribee within the opening minutes, kicking a classy left-foot banana on the run.

In his 36th game for the club, defender Jaelen Pavlidis kicked his first goal for Werribee with a running shot from outside fifty after receiving a handball from Charlie Lazzaro.

Elite forward 50 pressure from Werribee produced another first club goal, as Lazzaro took an intercept mark 30 metres out and converted the set shot.

Werribee closed out the quarter with a textbook crumb from Jay Dahlhaus, extending the lead to 20 points in wet, scrappy conditions.

Lazzaro continued his goal-kicking form, with his second coming from a set shot in the opening minutes of the second term.

Cody Bryan joined the first kick, first goal club, with Lazzaro and Donegan combining nicely to set him up for the set shot.

Make that four first club goals, with Lachie Charleson swooping on the footy from a stoppage and kicking a right-foot dribbler from the boundary to extend the lead.

At halftime, Werribee held a 34-point lead after a four-goals-to-one second quarter at Trevor Barker Beach Oval.

The third term saw momentum swing in Sandringham’s favour, with the margin reduced to six points. The backline held strong for much of the quarter, conceding four goals from countless forward 50 entries.

Sandringham carried that momentum into the final term, running away 16-point winners.

Werribee now turns its attention to its opening home game of 2026, with Geelong making the trip up the highway next Saturday, April 4. Members receive free entry to all home games throughout the season, with 2026 memberships available to purchase here.
