Werribee will wrap up its three-game practice match schedule against Footscray on Saturday.

The match will see Werribee taking on the Bulldogs at Whitten Oval, with the match getting underway at 10:00am.

With the Western Bulldogs’ AFL side having begun its campaign last weekend, the game presents Werribee’s first opportunity in 2026 to test itself against AFL-listed opposition.

After playing more than 30 players in the first two hitouts of the pre-season, Werribee is expected to field a side much closer to what fans can expect in Round 1 against Gold Coast in ten days’ time. The selected side will be released across the club’s media channels tomorrow (Friday).

Werribee will be looking to make it three wins from three. In the opening hitout in late February, Werribee defeated Frankston by 67 points at the VFL Standalone Carnival, with a number of the club’s young players and new recruits impressing.

The side then backed that up with a 20-point victory over Tasmania last weekend in the Devils’ first practice match against a VFL club in preparation of their entry into the competition.

Saturday’s clash at Whitten Oval will be free entry for fans wishing to see Werribee in action and represents the final opportunity to watch the team play in Victoria before travelling interstate to face Gold Coast in Round 1. Werribee will then return to Victoria in Round 2 to take on Sandringham at Trevor Barker Beach Oval with the first home game on Saturday, April 4th against Geelong.
