Werribee young gun Tom Boyd will make his VFL debut when he runs out against Port Melbourne at Adcon Stadium on Saturday.
The first-year tall forward and former Murray Bushranger has been named as 23rd player for the round-six clash with the Borough on the back of an impressive run of recent form in front of goal for Goulburn Valley Football League side Shepparton.
Boyd moves into the vacant 23rd player position in place of Jake Riccardi, who has been retained in the side thanks to his own strong form in front of goal for the “big W”, which has seen him boot eight goals from the opening four games to twice finish among his side’s best.
Werribee’s other confirmed inclusion for Saturday is captain Michael Sodomaco, who is set to return from a hamstring complaint and will provide a major boost to his side’s drive out of defence.
Playing midfield coach Michael Barlow and ruckman Jack Berry are also in the frame for possible returns from jaw injuries, while defender Ben McNamara is in the mix for his first VFL game of the season after being added to the extended squad.
