Werribee will use Saturday’s season-closing home clash with North Melbourne to blood yet another young rising star by providing a VFL debut for Greater Western Victoria Rebels utility Scott Carlin.
A product of Hampden Football League side Terang Mortlake, Carlin replaces Jordon Butts as 23rd player and has earned his call-up on the back of some impressive performances off half-back and on the wing throughout the Rebels’ 2018 TAC Cup campaign.
The talented 18-year-old is one of at least two inclusions for Werribee, which will also need to bring in a replacement for injured key forward Josh Porter.
Ben McNamara is among the possible candidates after retaining his spot in the initial 27-man squad, while Keegan Gray, Harry Boyd, and Kye Declase are also in the mix for a recall after being named on the extended bench.
Rounding out the list of potential additions to the team is utility Harrison King, who has also been added to the extended squad.
If selected among the final lineup, King would take his place for his first VFL game since last year’s season-closer against the Casey Demons.
Saturday’s match will mark the first between Werribee and North Melbourne, which ended their on-field alliance at the end of the 2017 season, and will also be John Lamont’s final game as Werribee senior coach.
The match kicks off at 1pm at Avalon Airport Oval.
