Matthew Burton joins Calder Cannons

The Werribee Football Club would like to congratulate Matthew Burton on his appointment to the position of football operations manager with the Calder Cannons TAC Cup program.

Burton joined Werribee in 2016 as player and opposition analyst, a position that saw him play a significant role in assisting with player development planning and talent scouting in the off season in addition to his studying and breaking down of rival teams on game days and throughout the season.

Werribee football operations manager Stuart Balloch said the club was thrilled for Burton.

“We’re rapt for Matt and that our program has not only been able to offer the opportunity for people to develop on the field but also for our staff to develop off it,” said Balloch.

“I think the football manager role at the Calder Cannons will give Matt a really good grounding to further himself within the industry, and we hope that we’ve been able to impart some level of skill and talent development with him that he can utilise in the next phase of his career.”

The club would like to thank Burton for his service and wishes him all the best in his new role.
