Forward Josh Corbett is hopeful of a return to football sooner rather than later after a challenging run with illness and injury.
Recruited by Werribee ahead of the 2016 season, Corbett has struggled for regular game time on the back of an ongoing ankle complaint and a bout of glandular fever, but the former North Warrnambool Eagles star showed his ability at the VFL level with two goals in his debut against the Northern Blues late last year.
Corbett will undergo tests to determine his readiness to rejoin to the Tigers’ development side, while fellow Western District pickup Jake Edward is also nearing a return from a hamstring complaint.
In other injury news, Brock Kennedy could miss up to three weeks after straining his abductor in the development side’s loss to Casey Demons on Saturday, while rookie Mitchell Hodgetts will be sidelined for a similar period with a scratched cornea.
