Young gun Max Augerinos will make his debut for Werribee in tomorrow’s season-opening clash against Geelong in Torquay.
The former Geelong Falcon has been named as the side’s 23rd man after impressing in the midfield during the Tigers’ 2017 practice matches.
The selection brings a satisfying end to a turbulent off-season for the 19-year-old, who was offered a lifeline by the Tigers after being dumped by the Cats despite a solid showing in the pre-season.
Speaking with the Geelong Advertiser earlier in week, senior coach John Lamont was glowing in his assessment of Augerinos.
“He's impressed a lot of people around here,” said Lamont.
“There's not much of him, but he wins his own ball and makes good decisions with the footy, so it's been a really positive start."
