The Werribee Football Club is pleased that Jeff Andrews has been appointed as senior coach of the Central District Football Club in the SANFL.
Though only at the club for two years, Jeff made quite an impact on the club and vice versa, including senior coach Mark Williams:
“From the first meeting Jeff impressed me with his footy professionalism, which shone out in the way he prepares. He was a sponge for knowledge, always asking questions and willing to learn new ideas. The players loved working with him and really enjoyed his friendly manner. As backline coach he managed a very successful and efficient backline and was as asset to the entire coaching staff with his attention to detail.”
Andrews will take much from his time at Avalon Airport Oval.
“I am thrilled to have met so many quality people and witnessed first-hand the re-emergence of Werribee as a stand-alone club in the VFL. I was lucky to work under two great - albeit different - coaches in John Lamont and Mark Williams. I have a lot to thank them both for along with the other excellent assistant coaches I was fortunate enough to work alongside. I say to the players - be proud of what you’ve achieved so far but realise how much more is required to get to where you all want to go as individuals and, importantly, as a team. Nothing is given in this game. The friendships we’ve made will endure and I’ll be following your careers closely.
I thank everyone in the football department and the club in general for making me and my family feel so welcome over the last two years.
Special thanks to John Lamont, Stu Balloch and Mark Penaluna for giving me the opportunity to come to Werribee in the first place, and 'Choco' for his guidance this year.
I’ll be taking many of the great things I’ve learnt at Werribee with me across the border to Centrals.”
Football moves on quickly as Mark Williams notes:
“Although we will miss Jeff greatly, we wish him every success with the ‘Dogs’ at Elizabeth and encourage the next aspiring coach to join our team at Werribee and enhance their coaching progression to even bigger and better opportunities.”
