Simone Joins The Board

26 March 2021

Simone Bellears was announced as the newest member of the board at the annual general meeting and she has an interesting connection to the club.

Footy is back and everyone at Werribee is excited about the new look VFL and our part in how that will unfold in 2021 and beyond, especially our newest board member.

At the recent AGM Simone Bellears was welcomed as the newest member of the club’s board. Simone is the former head of Women's Football at the Geelong Cats, where she worked for 10 years in management roles in the football and community departments. Since leaving the Cats, Simone has consulted on a number of community projects and is currently working in disability service management for Leisure Networks.

Simone has an interesting connection to the club and some unfinished business as she explains:

“My uncle Greg Welsh was president for a couple of years but it was actually AFL Head of Women's Football, Nicole Livingstone, who formally introduced me to the club. Whilst I have changed industries, my passion to connect people to their community is unwavering. I still have a football itch to scratch and Werribee feels like the right club to contribute my time and energy to. The team is committed, and the staff and board are passionate about embracing their community and bringing people back to local football.”
