Werribee’s forward stocks have been bolstered with exciting VFL duo Shaun Mannagh and Edyn Sibbald joining the ‘Big W’ at Avalon Airport Oval for season 2020.
Mannagh, a speedy midfielder/forward has crossed from Richmond’s VFL program after 26 games and 24 goals over the past three seasons, while 23-year-old Sibbald, a 200cm athletic key forward arrives after two years on Essendon’s VFL list.
“The club is delighted to provide Shaun and Edyn with an opportunity to further their football in season 2020,” Werribee Football Manager Stuart Balloch said.

The Mannagh’s long affiliation with Werribee continues with Shaun’s signing. The 22-year-old’s father Craig won the club’s U19s best and fairest in 1989, grandfather Joe was a property steward from 1987 through to the late 90s, uncle Peter a supporter, and auntie Kay and uncle Gary Sciberras have sponsored Michael Sodomaco for a decade. In 2016, Shaun also played a reserves game for the club.
“It is great to secure a player with such a strong family connection to the club,” Balloch said.
“Having spent the last three years at Richmond, we feel that we will be able to provide some terrific opportunity for Shaun to reignite his VFL career.”
Mannagh is coming off a career-best season with Ovens & Murray Football League premiers Lavington Panthers, where he booted 54 goals in just 16 games, and proved the grand final hero, culminating in the Did Simpson Medal (best on ground).

After the success of the club’s recruitment of Jake Riccardi out of St. Bernard’s Football Club, fellow key forward Edyn Sibbald is hopeful of making a similar mark.
“Edyn will bolster our forward line and also provides a level of flexibility to the squad being tall enough to pinch hit in the ruck,” Balloch said.
A prolific goalkicker in the VAFA, Sibbald also impressed when called up to Essendon’s VFL side over the past two seasons, with his athleticism, strong hands and versatility a feature of his game.
